Also, it leads to cool collaborations like this:
This is Taylor Swift ft. The Civil Wars (whom I'm going to see at Sasquatch!)
And I love this song. It's eery and weird like the books. Leaves you feeling all heeby jeeby like the movie.
Having said that, I had to sit front row at the movie theatre the other day in order to watch said movie. Eff that noise.
What does this have to do with the Advantage of Doing? Suzanne Collins wrote these books, accepted these movie contracts and inspired a whackload of artists to make songs. The Arcade Fire one is swell, too:
I digress. READ THESE BOOKS SO WE CAN HAVE TEA AND TALK ABOUT THEM.
Thanks a shit ton.
I'm stuck on the beginning of the third book. I no longer remember exactly what was wrong, but I didn't like the change of pace.
ReplyDeleteThe first two books, however, are awesome, which is amazing considering how strongly I dislike Katniss.
AGREED. I don't know how such a bitch became such a big deal. I almost put it down after the second book. But I had to power through just to know what happens to everyone.
DeleteI got the soundtrack for my birthday and it's literally all I've been listening to since. It's amazing. I think the artists on it all captured something different about the story-a character, a time, or a place. It's a great listen. And I saw the movie on Friday with some and I thought it was great. Although it left some parts, overall I was impressed.
ReplyDeleteDevoured the series! The soundtrack is pretty wicked too!
ReplyDeleteI read the first book, and it was pretty groovy. A little teen-girl for my tastes, but I could dig it. I'll probably see the movie when it heads over to Movies 12 for 3 bucks. It seems to be a fine line between a strong, heroic female lead, and a rude bitch.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm the only moron who thinks poor Katniss is a product of her environment! I pity her more than anything! ha ha...
ReplyDeleteBut Peeta is my favorite. He's such a good soul!
And Carrie, I loved the movie except for the way the bounced the camera around so much! I assumed it was to try and create a sense of being in Katniss' head but Kristen thinks (rightly, I figure) it was so they could kill a bunch of kids and keep a lower rating! But other than that it was brill!!
I think the parts they left out were well chosen. I know there was some back story that I'm glad I knew before going in, but other than that, great adaptation for sure! And I can't wait to get my hands on the soundtrack!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't get it. How is Katniss a bitch? She's the anti-Bella. What's not to love?
ReplyDeleteWhat. She lets her angst and confusion leak all over her life in the worst way. She is oblivious to the way she treats people, specifically Peeta who is so innocent and adorable that I want to bite his face off, and she shuts down at the worst times.
DeleteI love her. But she's a bitch.
